The website is designed to provide Pennsylvania residents quotes from leading health insurance companies.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
I felt that there was not enough high quality expert content on the internet for consumers looking for health insurance. There are certainy many websites that want to sell health insurance, but they are vague in explaining what is the best type of coverage for that customer visiting their website.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
I first launched my website in May of 2007. My main theme of my website has not changed since launch and that is to offer our clients the best value.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
I felt the name Lowcostpahealthinsurance is very appropriate because the Agency works dilligently to find the lowest rates and best value for our clients.
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
Like many other brokers we have all the leading companies. However, what what makes us unique is that we also utilize programs that are non commishionable (such as Childrens Health Insurance Programs) to make sure our clients receive the best value.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
While the website is only 4 months old, I have been in this business for 17 years. I intend to keep this website up a considerable amount of time.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
That is yet to be determined.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
I might consider a sub-domain questions and answers forum. I have found that there is considerable misinformation and misconceptions on the internet.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Capacity will not be a problem.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
I never thought I would have to do this much typing in my life. Had I known it would be this important I definately would have taken my typing classes more seriously in high school 25 years ago.
What has been your biggest challenge?
My biggest challenge has been learning a new skill, and that would be internet marketing.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
No question it has been the ability to write expert content. While I do not have great seo skills or website design knowledge, I worked to my strengths which is 17 years of health insurance consulting work.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
It has been about as I expected.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
I have been up and running for 4 months and plan to keep it indefinately.
