The citations against Marcellus drillers have doubled this year, The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. There were about 565 citation against marcellus shale natural gas operators so far this year, issued by the Pennsylvania environmental regulators, which is already about twice the number issued last week.
These were the figures sent by the Department of Environmental Protection to the state Senate's Environmental Resources and Energy Committee. The growing numbers where not a cause of deteriorating practices of drillers but a indication of the increase of activity in drilling Marcellus and the tightened inspection program of the DEP.
