I wonder at the soundness of mind that some of our lawmakers must have to create the unemployment laws. Under this law, unless I am mistaken, the burden of proof is on the company to show that the worker should not have a job there.You know, it seems to me that there should be a classification for workers who are just plain lazy and do only what is absolutely necessary to get by. Even at that, they are only giving a half hearted attempt to earn their wages. They take the idea for granted that the company will be able to stay afloat if all of the workers have this mindset. Who will actually do the work? Surely not this breed of worker. What does the company have as a reason for letting them go? That they are lazy good for nothing employees with bad breath?
I understand that sometimes good, hard working people get laid off from businesses and should by all means get to draw unemployment. I mean, every hard-working company is contributing to this worthy cause whether they lay off employees or not, so why not have some good ones reap the benefits.
The ones that really irk me are the ones who the company just can't write up cleanly three times because the infractions are just in that gray area between willful misconduct and doing a so so job. They certainly don't pull their weight, and they are simply a burden to everyone. I think there needs to be another realm for the workers that fit in this category.
I wonder how they sleep at night figuring out how everyone owes them something for nothing.
