I read that the PA Department of Labor and Industry has come up with a new way of doing the Unemployment interviews rather than having both the company and the ex-employee fill out the separation forms to determine whether they are eligible. On a random basis, PA is doing telephone interviews with the employers to give them the chance to tell them why they REALLY got rid of the employee. This could be good or bad depending on which side of the matter you are on. They say they want to increase the accuracy and efficiency of eligibility determinations by eliminating time wasting follow ups expounding on the written informatio that is submitted.
This is your chance, employers, to tell them the real story, since you will be likely providing information directly to the examiner who will decide whether the employee gets the money or not. You can't lie of course, but sometimes the paper forms just don't quite cut the mustard when it comes to lazy, good for nothing employees who try to scam you for the unemployment money.
